Who We Are: Residential and Hospital based specialist care for adults with learning disability and mental health problems

Lighthouse is a forward thinking, creative organisation that has the capacity to develop bespoke provision directly in response to individual’s needs.

As an established provider of specialist hospital and care home services we have a total of 173 beds across the Midlands and Wales.

Founded in 2007 Lighthouse Healthcare was created through the bringing together of three established and well respected service providers- Healthlinc Individual Care, Acorn Care and Growing Old with Learning Disability.

Today Lighthouse Healthcare operates a total of 12 services comprising of; three learning disability hospitals (two of which are low secure services); six community based residential care services and three mental health rehabilitation hospitals (two female specific and one male specific).

All of our services are registered with, and regulated by, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in England and Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW).  Some of our hospital settings also provide low secure mental health care for those detained under the Mental Health Act.

Each of our services is staffed by an experienced team of professional managers, support workers, and nurses. Each service has in place or access to clinical psychiatrists, psychologists and assistants, occupational therapists, social worker, speech and language therapists and advocacy.

We employ some 650 staff who each receive an internal training programme exceeding national standard requirements ensuring our services are well-led by caring, professional and experienced staff. As a small organisation our senior management team who collectively have over 90 years’ experience in the health and social care sector are always close to the patients and service users, staff teams and service managers, so our care is developed in direct response to people’s needs.

This multi-disciplinary approach ensures that every part of an individual’s care pathway from admission to discharge is carefully planned, implemented and reviewed.

Our central support office is located in the centre of the UK in Derby with a number of departments which support the individual services including finance, human resources, operations, marketing and development. Each of our services are no more than two hour’s drive away which allows members of the senior management team to make frequent visits to services helping to ensure proximity, consistency and safety.
