My Experience - Jason, The Woodlands Care Home
“I came to live at The Woodlands almost 3 years ago as part of the step down service from The Woodhouse Hospital where I lived before for 3 years. I really like it here at The Woodlands - I can’t fault it. The staff here are really nice to talk to and the other men that live here with me are great and we all get on.
I make my own breakfast and lunches every day and we have a rota for cooking dinner in the evening, and for helping to prepare salads or vegetables. My favourite thing to cook is Lasagne. I do all my own laundry and cleaning so I am becoming quite independent. My room here is great and I have posters of Bon Jovi and Metallica on my walls which are my favourite rock bands.
I enjoy going out into the town which is only about 3 miles away - I can either catch a bus there or walk it’s not far. When I’m in town I like to go shopping and buy clothes, toiletries, and games for my Playstation 3.
I am a Stoke City Football fan and there are a few football fans for other teams living here along with some of the staff who support other teams too, so each Saturday during the football season we predict the scores for each match being played and give each other points depending on if we get the score right. At the end of the season we then see who scored the most points and was closest with their predictions.
I have not long completed a 2 year IT course at the local college. I really enjoyed going to college and learning about spread sheets and Microsoft Excel. I would really like to do another IT course soon.”
