Here, two of our service users at Chesterfield House share their stories of their time spent at the Chesterfield House Enhanced Social Care Service

My Experience - Jane, Chesterfield House Care Home

“I moved here from Healthlinc House Hospital a few years ago and I’m so happy here. The staff are lovely and I always go out with them when I want to go anywhere such as to the shops or for a walk. Gary has been lovely and really helpful to me. I like the other people I live with and have made some really good friends and I enjoy living here.

I’m quite a creative person and I like to spend time painting and doing jigsaws, I’ve got one of my completed jigsaws framed on my bedroom wall. Knitting is something else I am good at and at the moment I am knitting a shawl and a couple of cardigans so that is keeping me quite busy.

We’ve got a lovely garden here and we all help with the gardening and keeping it tidy. We grow lots of different things such as strawberries, raspberries, tomatoes and cucumbers.

I went to Mablethorpe for the day recently with my key worker and named nurse and we had a lovely day. The weather was great and we walked all along the promenade- it was quite a long way! We took a picnic to eat on the beach and on the way home we stopped at a nature reserve to have a walk around.

I have another day trip planned soon where I will be going to York with my key worker and I hope to do some shopping there and have look around, I’m really looking forward to it.”

My Experience - Elizabeth, Chesterfield House Care Home

“I have been living at Chesterfield House for a couple of years. I really like the staff here, I have a key worker and a named nurse who are there for when I want to go out, want help with doing things in the house and just to talk to when I need them. Chesterfield House Care Home - Experience, Beach visit

I have a lovely bedroom here that I keep tidy and we all take it in turns to cook and keep the kitchen clean which we all share.

There are lots of activities that are planned for us like exercise classes, hula hooping, walking in the woods nearby and relaxation and Tai Chi lessons. We also have an art teacher who comes in regularly and we go into the workshop and make mosaics that can be used as coasters or create the artwork that is on the walls around the house. Every week we go bowling and swimming so there is always plenty to do here.

My key worker and named nurse also take me out to places where I want to go. Not long ago they took me to Lincoln shopping and also come with me when I go home to see my mum for the day. We go on holidays every year with our keyworker and named nurse. This year I went to Blackpool for a couple of days and stayed in a hotel. While I was in Blackpool I saw the sights, watched some ballroom dancing, went to the circus and also went dancing! I had a brilliant time and really enjoyed it.”
