We're finalists at the National Learning Disability & Autism Awards
We are delighted to announce that two members of staff have been shortlisted as finalists at this year’s National Learning Disability and Autism Awards.
The National Learning Disabilities & Autism Awards hosted by the British Institute of Learning Disabilities and Care Talk magazine aim to celebrate excellence in the support for people with learning disabilities and autism and pay tribute to those individuals or organisations who excel in providing quality care.
The awards offer a unique opportunity to celebrate the successes of individuals, teams and businesses throughout the UK - people who really do make a positive impact on people’s lives.
There are a total of 15 award categories available for nomination, which represent all areas of care for people with learning disabilities and autism within the care sector, whether it be young or older people, supporting people in their own homes, the residential care sector or the voluntary sectors.
Nominations for categories this year were made by our members of staff and we asked them to put forward those people they work with that go above and beyond in everything they do for our service users. The quality of the nominations we received were testament to the hard work and dedication of staff across our services to providing a high standard of care for our service users.
Tamara Marlog a support worker at Chesterfield House our specialist residential service for men and women with learning disability in North Hykeham, Lincolnshire has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Support Worker of the Year category.
Carl Slaney our Behaviour Management Specialist, part of Lighthouse Healthcare’s Training and Development Team has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Positive Behaviour Support Award category.
Both Tamara and Carl will now attend a judging day interview in Birmingham and will then join al of the other category finalists at a gala dinner and awards ceremony on Friday 14th July at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham where the overall winners for each category will be announced. The evening will consist of a drinks reception, a gourmet dinner followed by the awards presentation and entertainment!
