Experimental Baking at Bradley raises money for Macmillan

Recently patients at Bradley Woodlands our low secure learning disability service in North East Lincolnshire ran a coffee afternoon as part of Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning Initiative.

Home-made cakes were available and items from the garden at Bradley Woodlands were used to make some unusual recipes which included; chocolate and courgette buns, lemon, courgette and poppy seed buns and green tomato and cheese muffins!

For the less adventurous the more traditional chocolate buns, almond slice, lemon and ginger shortbread and ginger cake were also baked for those not brave enough to try out the experimental cakes!

Jo Humberstone, Day Activity Coordinator at Bradley Woodlands said “We are always on the lookout for unusual recipes to try out, and we like to use ingredients out of the garden where possible. Everyone was tempted to try our cakes and we raised a total of  £165:23 for MacMillan Cancer Support!”
